Take a trip to the beautiful city of Porto and experience Portugal’s biggest rivalry like a local.
We’ve been around a bit. And we can safely say Porto will blow your mind!
Portugal’s second city is a charming mix of cobbled streets, impressive architecture, and vibrant bars by the river. All washed down with some of the best local food and drink in the world.
The people of Porto are immensely proud. And to see this pride on full display – you can’t beat a trip to the Estadio do Dragao to watch O’Classico.
Porto-Benfica isn’t just a clash between Portugal’s two biggest clubs.
It’s north vs south. Capital city vs second city. And everything that comes with it.
Locals say this rivalry sums up Portuguese life as a whole. Where different views on history, politics, and life are exaggerated by the emotions of matchday.
Your trip to O’Classico will be led by Hugo – a lifelong Porto fan who has been showing us his city for two years.
Hugo will take you to the heart of Porto’s fan culture. Showing you the best spots and giving you a local perspective on this epic rivalry.
This is one of our most popular trips every season. So you better be quick!
This morning, you and your fellow travelers will arrive in Porto.
Once checked-in into the accommodation, you can relax and recover from your travels for a bit. Around noon, your local host Hugo will arrive and take you on a magnificent tour of Porto.
After visiting the old city, you'll cross the bridge and see the city from the other side of the river. You'll then visit some of the most important monuments in Porto (Clérigos and São Bento) before taking a look at Boavista's Estádio do Bessa and the local beach.
For lunch, you'll sample some of Porto's wonderful local cuisine and maybe even a glass of Port for dessert. After that, it's time for a stadium tour!
Because we'll then head to Porto's Dragao stadium. Where you can learn more about the club and Porto's rivalry with the clubs from Lisbon. You'll also have access to the club museum where you can dive into FC Porto's rich history.
At night, your host will book a local restaurant so you can enjoy some great food and couple of beers with the group.
Match Day!
Today is all about the big match and experiencing Porto's football culture from the inside.
Hugo will meet you at the hotel some hours before the match. You'll then head to a traditional hot dog place packed with FC Porto supporters. Then it's time to walk or get the subway to Estadio do Dragao. Where you'll enjoy some pre-match beers in a charismatic local bar where FC Porto fans meet before matches.
Here you'll experience first hand just how much this club - and this game in particular - means to fans of FC Porto. Before heading to the stadium with Hugo for the spectacle you've all been waiting for - O'Classico.
Wow, what a weekend!
Unfortunately, it’s now time to pack your bags and say goodbye to the new friends you've made on the road.
If you have a late flight, you might want to do a little more sightseeing in Porto. Or take some time to digest your O'Classico experience and start planning for your next weekend away with Homefans!
You can do it if you wish.
You can also secure your spot with a deposit, and then pay the balance in up to two instalments no later than 60 days before you travel. In this way you can organise yourself and plan ahead with time!
A trip on the Homefans marketplace is a carefully hand-picked experience curated by Homefans and the local hosts in the destination to offer a unique sports experience through local eyes.
It usually includes the following:
In some cases more activities will be added or some will be omitted (and mentioned in the inclusions)
If we know where you will be sitting, we always mention this is in the inclusions section.
Unfortunately, we are not always able to tell you that at the time of booking. However, our destination managers and local hosts work tirelessly to make sure you get the best seats.
We always aim for the long side of the home supporters section.
We can always upgrade the seat location based on availability, at an extra cost. We do recommend that the group stays together in the same area to get the most out of this experience, but if you would like to enquire about an upgrade, feel free to get in touch.
The maximum number of people the host will allow is stated above.
However, this number may not always be met and it may even be possible that your party is on the tour on your own.
Higher numbers make for a more sociable experience, lower numbers make for more personalised attention from your host. Look at it as a win/win!
The trips and activities on the Homefans marketplace are designed and executed by fully-vetted locals, and supervised and monitored by Homefans.
All bookings made on Homefans are backed by our Buyer Guarantee so you have a peace on mind when booking.

Homefans was created to address a pain point we experienced quite often. You travel abroad to watch a sporting event, yet once you arrive, you still feel like an outsider, with a lack of knowledge around the destination and the event.
The local hosts on the Homefans marketplace address this issue by becoming the local link to your trip. They enhance the experience completely, and create that necessary human connection – and will surely become friends in the future!
