Experience one of Germany’s deepest football rivalries in the awesome city of Hamburg

Hamburg – a truly amazing city where you’ll find endless fun, countless bars, and fascinating neighbourhoods around every corner. Where everyone can find their crowd and cut loose.

Talking of crowds, Hamburg is also home to one of the most symbolic rivalries in football.

One one side, you have HSV. A massive club with six German championships and a European title. While on the other you have St Pauli – a club from Hamburg’s wildest party neighbourhood who hate everything big clubs like HSV stand for.

These clubs and their supporters are at opposite ends of many different spectrums – be it politics, sport, or life in general. Resulting in a unique city derby with a vibe you won’t find anywhere else.

Your trip to Hamburg will be led by a lifelong HSV fan – who’ll show you this rivalry from the inside and take you on a football adventure like no other.

You’ll visit the best bars, food places, and hangouts where HSV fans prepare for derby day. And get an inside look at what happens when two very different neighbours collide.

  • Experience the fierce Hamburger Stadtderby
  • Discover the city of Hamburg the local way

Day 1 - Welcome to Hamburg
Day 1 - Welcome to Hamburg

Hamburg, which is the second biggest city of Germany, has been bombed during the second world war and been rebuild after that. This has caused the current state of the city which involves a lot of red bricks and cutting edge architecture. Besides that, the city is also hosting 2 of the greatest supported clubs in Germany. HSV is known as a high-quality club and gained 6 German championships over the years.

On the other end St Pauli their popularity isn’t gained by their on-field play as they usually compete in the second division or even lower. The contrasts aren’t being limited to what happens on the pitch, also off the pitch there are a lot of differences.

Whereas HSV fans are more focused on being a "right-wing" fan scene, St Pauli is known over the world as an "extreme leftwing" club, anti-establishment, and an anti-commercialist footballing oasis.

Today, we will meet you at the hotel in Hamburg. First, you can enjoy some time to relax at the hotel or drop your luggage off.

During the stadium tour, you’ll get to know all the ins and outs about this unique stadium, the club’s history and of course the derby between HSV and St Pauli. After that, there’s time to head back to the hotel to freshen up for an adventurous night out in this lively city.

In the evening, why not go out and hang out in the exciting Hamburg’s nightlife? With cool bars and nightclubs, Hamburg has a lot on offer! Getting lost in the countless options? Then feel free to ask your Trip Manager for his best recommendations.

Day 2 - Match Day & Time to say Goodbye
Day 2 - Match Day & Time to say Goodbye

Today is the day we’ve all been waiting for!

Let's wake up everyone early, take a heavy breakfast (why not a few beers?), head to the stadium to soak up this magical derby atmosphere and get prepared for an intense football journey.

Prepare yourself well for an electric involving impressive tifo’s, huge amounts of pyro and loud singing, all fed by pure hatred towards each other from both sets of fans. This hatred has resulted in taunting banners such as ‘’Your values are almost as strong as your hooligans’’ – HSV or ‘’HSV: a love bought as easy as on the Reeperbahn’’.

After the match, it’s time to pack your luggage, start storytelling to your friends, post photos, maybe do a little more sightseeing (if you have a late return flight), say goodbye until next time, and of course, start planning your next trip with Homefans!

Where in the stadium will we be sitting?

If we know where you will be sitting we always mention this is in the inclusions section.

Unfortunately we are not always able to tell you that at the time of booking, however our destination managers work tirelessly to make sure you get the best seats. We always aim for the long side of the home supporters section.

How many people will be on the tour?

The maximum number of people the host will allow is stated above. However this number may not always be met and it may even be possible that your party is on the tour on your own. Higher numbers make for a more sociable experience, lower numbers make for more personalised attention from your host. Look at it as a win/win!

Great derby and organisation

This was my fifth booking with Homefans and I had a great weekend in Hamburg with my friends. Again everything was perfectly organized and another great derby off my list! Thanks Homefans!

The Hamburger Derby, OMG!

The experience with Homefans was something different. Even though this game is staged in the Bundesliga 2 , it felt as one of the most important events in the whole country. The behind the scenes activities we had as a group at the club were really something different and the night out was amazing. The concept of a group experience with the local touch is definitely the way going forward!
