We spoke with Kevin Carroll, a member of our community and avid attendee of our newly launched Virtual Tours, on why he’s enjoyed the online experiences so much.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic broke out, most of the things we love had to be put on hold. Travelling, meeting with friends and attending games had to be paused for more important reasons. At Homefans HQ, we had to redefine our relationship with our community, given this new scenario. Fortunately, with the positive feedback from investors and customers, we found a way to bring the experience to your home. This was the inception of Homefans Live.

We sat down with Kevin Carroll, who, since day one, supported the idea of the virtual tours. He’s attended every single one of them, so we got in touch with him and had a chat about this new type of experience: the virtual tours.

Hi Kevin, please introduce yourself!

My name is Kevin and I’m from Sheffield in the UK.

Ever since I was a child I have been a Celtic fan, and I have been to hundreds of home and away games.  Football has always been an integral part of my life and I watch many games from many different countries via TV or by travel

That’s great! We have also taken loads of travellers to Parkhead. How did you hear about Homefans in the first place?

I had come across homefans as I was looking at football trips to Argentina and the site came up – I have been a fan of the company ever since.  And then obviously with the pandemic, any chances of travelling at the moment were out of the window.  I noticed that you were doing virtual tours and I was over the moon as I could still get a really good tour with lots of information from my own living room.

What is your opinion about the online experiences compared to real life experiences (ie a football trip)?

I would have Ideally loved to have been there in person, but Homefans’ idea of doing these virtual tours was amazing! All the tours have given me information, insights and diverse views of stadiums and stories about clubs and football culture.  Otherwise I would have never heard or gotten to know them. .

Being in a stadium full of fans with pure passion is something that is indescribable.  However, being able to see the stadium, and listen to all the stores in a digital environment helps a lot! Absorbing all the information they provide,  also gives you an appreciation for the individual teams and areas they are based in.

Homefans tours are a fantastic way of getting information and views of this and the ability to ask questions you probably wouldn’t get to ask in a busy, noisy stadium is great for all and gives you a bigger urge to visit these places once this pandemic is over.

What did you enjoy most about the Online Tours so far?

I have been in every single one of them – 7 in total if I’m not mistaken. I have to state that these virtual tours have been staged in some of the most interesting clubs, with lots of history one way and another, and I look forward to more.

Also, these tours have provided entertainment to people who haven’t necessarily got the means to travel. To witness these stadiums and cultural tours from their home  has opened a window for them,  which is also a great thing for fans of the sport.

Anything else you would like to add, Kevin?

All in all,  these virtual tours have been great for fans and  it’s an enjoyable experience to watch with fantastic tour guides who have a plethora of information and great passion for their teams. I would highly recommend this to any football fan due to the information given and the tour guides themselves.
