The Spanish capital is vibrant, warm, full of energy and of course, breaths football. It is a fascinating city, full of history, food and nightlife. The art galleries, traditional markets, palaces, festivals, tapas, parks and rooftops are a must-see.
And it is of course home to two football giants. One being Atlético de Madrid who currently play at Wanda Metropolitano, (but football lovers will never forget the eternal Vicente Calderón, the spiritual home of Atleti). A large list of great players has defended Atleti’s colours, winning 10 league titles, 10 Spanish Cups, 3 UEFA Cups and one UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup. But the most awesome achievement was the Intercontinental Cup won in 1974 without having won the European Cup, losing against Bayern München.
Atlético fans are one of the most passionate in Europe. The old Calderón exploited every time the “colchoneros” played an important game, with massive tifos and eternal songs. Despite the 2001 relegation to the Segunda División, the fan base increased more than 65% the next season, is the perfect example of fan club loyalty. Their new stadium hosted the 2019 Champions League Final and once you get there, you are amazed by the design of the roof that shelters the stands and the extraordinary building from the outside. Also, the massive flag that honours the fans, and the Walk of Legends tribute to players who have played at least 100 official matches.
This matchday experience starts at Metro Las Musas where you will hang out with fellow Atlético fans at some local bars and get the best pre-match atmosphere. Don’t forget to get your “bocata” at the bar and take it with you to the ground. You shouldn’t miss on the food trucks and the mighty pot of beer (Mini – 2 pints) to have a refreshing drink before the game.
Around 1 hour for the match, our local host will escort you to your seats safely and on time to check the chants prior to the game. During the 90 minutes, you will experience the best of La Liga and Spanish football!
After the match, you local host can share with you the best things to see and do in the evening that lies ahead of you.
As of October 2021 Spain’s stadiums have resumed opening at 100% capacity.
However please note that this is subject to immediate change without notice and that Homefans and our local hosts have no control over this.
As of now this is not required to enter the stadium however there is always the possibility that this will change. Also given that proof of vaccination and/or negative PCR is required for entry to Spain we advise you to consider this in your travel plans.
We publish the latest information we have from the clubs regarding the schedule. However these are tentative. For weekend fixtures matches can take place any time from Friday to Sunday. For midweek matches you should be prepared for the match to take place one day earlier or later than stated. Please consider this when making your wider travel plans.
Please refer to the inclusions section, where we know we will always mention this here.
In the rare cases nothing is mentioned this means it can vary match to match based on availability. We always strive for the long side with the home supporters. You can always contact us for more information based on the fixture you are interested in.
The maximum number of people the host will allow is stated above. However this number may not always be met and it may even be possible that your party is on the tour on your own. Higher numbers make for a more sociable experience, lower numbers make for more personalised attention from your host. Look at it as a win/win!
Where we can accept children there is an option for children in the booking flow. However in many cases our local hosts take the decision, based on the content of the tour, to open this up to adults only. If you are looking to travel with under 18’s, please feel free to contact us and we can discuss your options.
