Ivan’s Homefans journey started with a surprise phone call in 2017. Since then, he’s hosted trips in Belgrade and Argentina, and is now a vital member of the Homefans team. This is Ivan’s story.

How did your Homefans journey begin?

Actually it happened very spontaneously. My old classmate and current co-worker at Homefans, Pedro, called me one day back in 2017 to hook me up with Luke and Daniel (the co-founders of Homefans).

He said they’d like to visit my home town Belgrade to check out its possibilities as a new destination. So I was happy to help and showed them around for a few days. I fell in love with the idea, and the rest is history!

When Luke and I were having dinner in a traditional Serbian restaurant, I asked him to tell me more about the project. I fell in love with the idea, and the rest is history!

How did things progress from there?

Very well! So far I’ve hosted around 7-8 Eternal Belgrade trips for travelers from around the globe. I also had the pleasure to lead two Ultimate Argentina trips.

I also manage our partnerships and have the responsibility of growing the Homefans platform in Southern Europe. This means onboarding new hosts and helping set up amazing new trips. If you’re reading this and would like to organise a tour, get in touch!

What makes Homefans different?

Homefans and our hosts do everything to make visitors feel like a local at any match or experience.

All the bits of it and everything around it. In the smoothest and most authentic way.

We also give the very best support to hosts. So it’s never been easier or safer to turn your passion into a job!

How do you spend your free time?

I love sports and foreign languages. In my spare time, I do all kinds of workouts and I go skiing or wakeboarding depending on the season. I also passionately follow sports events, mostly football, basketball, and skiing.

Of course, I go to Partizan games regularly. And in my spare time these days I’m learning Russian.

Why is Belgrade such a great place to visit?

This is Europe’s spiciest football region – and Belgrade is the place to be!

It’s the perfect destination for anyone who wants to experience a clash of vintage and modern, a charming street vibe, and a unique free spirit.

It’s also a city full of surprises. For instance, Belgrade has a really unusual mix of architecture: traditional, communist, and ultra-modern buildings all mixed up in one place.

We also have the ancient Kalemegdan fortress, from which you can see the real natural gem of this city – the confluence of the Sava river with the Danube. Not to mention warm-hearted people and gorgeous girls!

The nightlife is class. And when it comes to sport, Belgrade has one of the fiercest rivalries on Earth: Partizan vs Red Star.

Both stadiums are just breathtaking. Vintage, completely magical and intimidating at the same time.

I could go on forever. But here’s the bottom line: Belgrade is the place to be, and a place you’ll never forget!
