I recently attended the Guadalajara v Queretaro match with local host Rodrigo. It was a great experience and i can thoroughly recommend it.
I was collected by Rodrigo from my hotel and taken to a local restaurant where we enjoyed a local sandwich and drink. The restaurant was opposite the Jalisco Stadium where they staged games during the 1970 and 1986 World Cups so i was interested to have a look at the outside of the stadium.
It was quite a long drive from central Guadalajara to the Akron Stadium, but Rodrigo had a good supply of alcoholic beverages in his car for me and he was good in explaining everything about Las Chivas past and present. The Akron Stadium is very modern and there was ample parking.
Once in the stadium it was great to soak up the atmosphere and listen to Rodrigo's thoughts on the players and the teams chances of victory. The game was not a classic but it was great to be in such a beautiful stadium and to experience football in a foreign country.
After the game i was dropped off at my hotel having had a mini tour of the streets of Guadalajara. Home Fans took away all the stress of having to buy a ticket and find one's way to and from the stadium with the added benefit of being with a local who could explain everything about Las Chivas and Guadalajara.
