Hi everyone!
Experience an unforgettable day as a die-hard Ajax supporter with me, Jurgen, a proud Amsterdam resident and Ajax season ticket holder for over 40 years now. From the grim early ‘80s in the old stadiums De Meer and the Olympic through to modern times in the Johan Cruyff Arena.
Let me show you how we experience match days in Amsterdam, where we start off in a pub in Old Town and then head to the Arena where we meet fellow Ajax fans when tension builds up towards kick-off.
Before the match we’ll have drinks in the supporters' home underneath the stands, which is loaded with memorabilia, pictures and souvenirs on the walls. I’ve got tons of stories and anecdotes to share about these relics of Dutch terrace culture.
We’ll then climb the stairs to the home end in the South Stand, lower tier a.k.a. The F-side, the loudest stand in the stadium. This is the only stand in the Arena without strictly allocated seats, so we’re free to go and stand anywhere we like. Whether that is right behind the goal amidst the ultras or in the corner with the old boys network, it’s all up to you!
After the game we’ll have drinks in one of the surrounding pubs in order to discuss Ajax’ performance with like-minded fans, as if we were professional pundits.
