Welcome to the Botafogo Matchday Experience – the most authentic and exciting soccer experience Rio de Janeiro can offer!

If you are a soccer lover, a sports enthusiast or simply someone looking for a unique experience in Brazil, you can’t miss the chance to participate in this exclusive event.

My name is Matheus Butrucci. I’m a history teacher, currently studying for a master’s degree in history and a great soccer enthusiast, especially Botafogo. I’ve been working for Homefans for two and a half years and, through it, I honor my grandfather’s legacy and feel honored to be able to show Botafogo to people all over the world. By my side, you’ll have a guide, a teacher and a passionate fan who will do his best to infect you with my passion for Botafogo.

Founded in 1904, Botafogo is one of Brazil’s oldest and most traditional clubs. Over the years, the team has won countless titles and produced Brazilian soccer legends such as Garrincha and Carlos Alberto Torres. Although they’ve had ups and downs throughout their history, Botafogo are currently in great shape, fighting in the Libertadores playoffs and with a great chance of doing well in the Brazilian championship. You’ll have the chance to see this incredible team in action at the Nilton Santos stadium, together with me and my friends who are also passionate Botafogo fans.

Imagine joining a local guide who is passionate about soccer for a full day of fun, culture and history of Rio soccer. We’ll start our day at a meeting point in Copacabana, where I’ll take you to meet other Botafogo fans in one of the liveliest and most authentic places in the city. There you can enjoy drinks and a barbecue while learning more about Rio’s soccer culture and Botafogo’s history and getting the inside scoop on the clubs and competitions! After soaking up the pre-match atmosphere, we’ll head to the stadium.

We will then embark on an exciting journey at the Nilton Santos Stadium. The building was completed in 2007 and hosted the athletics games at the 2016 Olympic Games. This is where the action really begins! You’ll have the chance to join the passionate Botafogo fans, supporting their team in a unique and vibrant atmosphere. I’ll be by your side throughout the game, explaining the moves and the club’s traditions.

You won’t have to worry about a thing – the experience includes a ticket to the game, a guide who speaks fluent English and even a barbecue and a local beer to make your experience even more special.

What a great experience Matheus provided for us at the Botofogo v Cremucia match in October. His desire to ensure we had a great time was immense and he delivered it all with charm, efficiency and huge organisational ability. It is not easy dealing with strangers of different ages and nationalities before, through and after a match of 65000 attendees. Also a word of praise to Homefans who were able to arrange our attendance at this match following the original match that we were to attend being brought forward. This was much appreciated. I can only commend Matheus and Homefans.

An amazing experience with our wonderful guide Matheus and co-guide Gabriel. Their love and passion for brazilian football certainly makes for a fantastic and fun time. This was one of the highlights of our family's first trip to Rio! We went to the local derby game against Vasco de Game in February, and had the best time. The whole match day experience was great from pre-gaming outside and sampling the local food, to enjoying the energetic atmosphere and sitting with the local fans in the stadium. Thank you Matheus!

My friend Richard and I had a great time with Matheus and his friends. They brought us through the real experience of going to a Botafogo game and it was a really amazing evening. They made the whole experience so easy, organising everything for us, explaining how everything worked and choosing the best seats in the stadium to watch from. Went to the Sampaio Corrêa pre-season regional tournament game so there wasn’t a full stadium but it was still well worth it. Atmosphere was great before during and after the game, the time flew by unfortunately. Mateus was a phenomenal guide, very knowledgeable on botafogo, world football and plenty more. We also met some of his friends and hung out in some local spots which was lovely. 10/10

I went to watch Botafogo playing Madueira at home on the first game of the season the 17th of january. Our guide was Matheus Butrucci Gomes. A fantastic person with a true passion for the sport. He was very conciderate and gave us all in the grpup a great time and the best Matchday Experience you could ever get. His extensive knowledge of every day life in Rio also opened my horizons and I will never forget the 17th of january 2024. I would recommened anyone tou join a tour with Matheus. I was part of the group that attended Botafogo V Santos. Matheus was an attentive and well organised guide from the moment we booked! He provided us with plenty of information before hand and ensured that we were well informed of our meeting point and times and itinerary. Matheus then organised transport to the surrounding area of the stadium where he provided us with food, drinks and began to explain the history of the club to us whilst we could absorb the atmosphere happening around us. Afterwards we stayed for a few more short drinks before Matheus organised a taxi back to our hotel. Would highly recommend this experience to anyone wanting to watch football in Rio!

I was part of a group that went to see Botafogo - Santos match at Olympic stadium. It was unique experience to see such a great crowd atmosphere. Matheus was perfect host, speaking very good English he explained to us all about Botafogo's history and about other clubs in Rio. We even got barbecue stick with excellent meat and couple of beers from him. During all this time we really felt as part of the crowd, outside and inside the stadium, all fans were friendly and supportive. At the end Matheus booked taxi for us. Really nice experience end-to-end, highly recommended!

Matheus was a wonderful host for this amazing experience watching Botafogo. He was very proactive ensuring we had all our questions answered, and did a great job explaining the history of Botafogo and a lot about football culture at Botafogo and Rio in general. Great service overall! Matheus and Mari managed it really well. We took an Uber to close to the stadium and had some beer and BBQ which was included. Nice spot where many locals pregame as we. Then off to the stadium where we could stand a together close to the ultras. Would recommend a visit!

I had so much fun at my first ever football match! Matheus is patient, thoughtful, and incredibly kind. We met many other travelers at the event including some of his close friends who came to support Botafogo. They all spoke English so it was easy to learn about the game and communicate with them. Matheus took great care of us making sure we had drinks and food, that we stayed together as a group and arrived safely at the stadium. Our driver was fantastic, and she was also Matheus's partner! You can tell he has a passion for the sport and brings people to help him on the tour that he really trusts. I would recommend watching the match with Matheus and cant wait to do another tour with him the next time I visit Rio. Thank you Matheus and friends!!! GOO BOTAFOGOOO!!

Was a great experience. Matheus take very good care of us, ang gave us a lot of informations about Rio‘s football and of course Botafogo. We had some beers and snacks on the streets in front of the stadium. Lots of people celebrating Atmosphere during the game was also great. Everytime again with Matheus.

Matheus you are an absolute legend, totally love this guy for his passion for football and especially his club Botafogo. He looked after my family from start to finish and really engaged with my 2 young children. Being in his company for the evening totally enhanced the experience of the game and meeting his fellow fans and girlfriend just made everything more personal. First time I’ve used Homefans and I’ve now already booked another game with them. Football has been crying out for years for somebody to come up with a concept of what they do and how they do it and I’m just glad you guys have. An incredible experience of Brazilian football with a warm and engaging guide Mattheus whose knowledge of Botafogo was superb. The pre match area he took us to was amazing engaging with fellow Botafogo supporters and he introduced us to some of his friends who also attended the game with us which enhanced the experience. The atmosphere at the game was incredible seeing the passion of the fans. I would 110% recommend a trip with this guide for any football fan.

Amazing experience from start to finish. Organization was excellent. The host and his crew made sure we were comfortable at all times: food and drinks were offered before the start of the game. The food was great ( barbecue). Nice vibes outside the stadium. Inside we had amazing seats with a great view of the players. I definitely recommend this experience as it’s one of the best I had in Río de Janeiro so far. Nothing to complain about, left with beautiful memories!

Matheus was a fantastic host with a deep and passionate love of Botafogo - which was infectious. We saw a great game of football with Botafogo coming back to win 3-1 with the fans in great voice and a special atmosphere. We were travelling with our teenage daughter and I am especially thankful that Matheus made sure we felt very safe throughout including his brother taking us back to Copa late at night after the game. This was such an incredible experience. Matheus and his friend Daniel were excellent hosts. I did not have to worry about any of the details or planning at any point- Matheus took care of everything. The Botofogo crowd was electric and the atmosphere was one of the best I have been to. The whole time it felt like going to a game with friends, rather then a tour- which made it even more special. I highly recommend this experience as Matheus makes it all so easy. This was one of, if not the, top highlight of our time in Rio.

Wow!! What an experience. We attended Botafogo v Coritiba while on holiday from the UK and it was a truly unforgettable day. Our guide, Matheus, was brilliant form the word go. He gave me assurances that everything promised by Homefans would be taken care of and he was right. He kept me informed of arrangements etc and was there at the arranged meeting place to greet us with a friendly smile... and soon after a beer too! It could have been a daunting experience going to a game in a place I'd never been to before but Matheus was friendly, chatty and impeccably organised. He and his fellow guide did everything to make sure we enjoyed our day to the full, right down to getting us amazing barbecued food taking us all to a good spot to get an Uber back to our respective hotels. Very impressed with our guides and with Homefans.

It was an amazing experience. Matheus and Daniel were very kind and cautious with the group. We were arrived 2 hors before the beginning of the game and we shared some beers and tasty skewers in the street with the other fans. Very nice atmosphere. An unbelievable experience, well worth the money, especially if you are a football fan. Matheus was a brilliant host from start to finish - he was organised, helpful, and informative. We met beforehand for beers and BBQ and to meet the others in the group. The atmosphere both before, during and after the match was so upbeat and energetic. Good vibes all round. I went to see Botafogo - Bragantino in July 2023 and Matheus was such a great host. He has a great positive and outgoing personality and surely he has his passion for Botafogo. Visiting a Botafogo Match is an absolute must for anyone traveling to Rio. We saw two football matches and both were awesome! Matheus is a great guide. He knows so much about football and his club. If I could give this experience 100 stars I would. It’s an absolute must for anyone traveling to Río. We were picked up one block from our lodgment and had a guided & fun ride. Every detail was thoughtfully planned out. The seats we had were AMAZING and had a blast hanging out with our host-friend. Just Wow! I completed a two week solo tour of Argentina and Brazil solely based on Football going to 9 different games. and Botafogo left me forever a fan! Mateus was an absolute Hero, who was so passionate on Botafogo and made you fall in love with the club, he was so well organised, welcoming and cracked opened a beer with you once we got to the pre game! He also matched this with his knowledge and passion of the beautiful game which made the experience 10 times better. The atmosphere was so special, flares, fireworks, chanting and waving flags everywhere you looked, we was immersed with the locals from start to finish. If you go to a game in Rio make sure you go to Botafogo, you won’t regret it! 12/10 would recommend to anybody! I will definitely be returning one day. The Botafogo FR intuition I made suddenly during my trip to Rio, Brazil became a precious memory in my life. In addition to the passionate street cheering of the home fans, it was very moving to see them keep their seats even though it was late, regardless of the match result, and support the players until the moment they left. The expected arrival time, which I found out in advance on Google search, was more than 50 minutes away from the actual match day due to severe traffic jams. I hope other people know this and deal with it. For those of you who have not yet experienced the Brazilian football cheering culture, it would be nice to take this opportunity to become a fan of Botafogo FR, which has great football skills and a great star mark. Also, I was sorry that I arrived late at the meeting point due to severe traffic congestion unintentionally, but I am very grateful to the guide Mr. Matheus, who gave kind explanations and led me from the first meeting, and helped me safely return home even in the crowd of locals.

Had an awesome time at the Botafogo vs São Paulo. Matheus took us right into the supporters section, which was an amazing experience (especially with a late winner). He also ensured we experienced the best of the pre-match festivities, making the whole experience fantastic. Logistically, pre and post match travel, and security and ticket check points were all smooth with no hiccups. I would highly recommend booking a tour with Matheus! We had the best experience with him, he showed us what it was like to go to a game as a real Botafogo fan and took great care of us. The game itself was incredible, but knowing where to hang out before the game and where to sit was just as important and we wouldn't have been able to do that alone. If you are thinking of going to a game I would highly recommend booking this tour. Matheus is a great guy and his passion for the game is obvious.

Matheus is such a lovely host who explained a lot of the history behind the derby. He was also very accomodating with any questions We had great seats and were right next to the Botafogo ultras. You can feel the passion and support is truly next level. Even though Botafogo sadly lost, the energy was incredible. I came home a Botafogo fan! Highly recommended!

I came to the game with fairly low expectations, I'd wanted to go to Flamengo game the night before at the Maracana, but unforuntately couldn't with a flight delay. There was one option and that was to go to Botofogo and I am so so glad I did. It was amazing. Matheus really cares deeply about ensuring you have the best possible experience. The guy lives and breathes Botofogo, a club enshrined in history, if not silverware recently. It's not just a game for him, it's about his family and friends. The game was on at the Olympic stadium, which again, I low expectations, but the atmosphere was incredible. He had us right in with the ultras. The fans couldn't have been friendlier as I think they appreciate people coming not just to Maracana and Flamengo, but to see their traditions and culture. In terms of safety and ease, it couldn't have been better. Super smooth pickup, and he even texted me to ensure I got home ok, with transport he organised. If you're in Rio for a week, definitely get to a Botofogo game with a real local football experience.

It was for me the first time in Rio de Janeiro and this day was the only day with good weather so I went with Matheus together to Christ the Redeemer and after to the Botafogo game. It was a really nice day! The trip to Christ, the Botafogo match. Matheus is a very cool guy, he helped me a lot the whole day and he took his responsibilities so everything went fine with the tickets and transports. I have a good experience! Next time when I will be in Rio de Janeiro to watch football games again I will see Matheus not only as my host, but also as a good friend!

Again thanks to Matheus and his very nice friend for a great Botafogo homegame experience. Even if Matheus doesn't like hearing it as a Flamengo supporter ;-), Botafogo has gained a new fan in me. Great atmosphere, likeable club and fans. I will remember this great experience for a long time.
