The Merseyside Derby used to be referred to as the Friendly Derby, and whilst there are some examples of this brotherhood, it’s certainly fiery both on and off the pitch. After all, it is the Premier League fixture with more red cards than any other! Amongst the fans, there is definitely a sense of trying to get one over the other team. Everton fans are keen to point out that their fans are “born not manufactured” as a reference to the influx of fans from all over the world that attend matches at Anfield. Whereas Liverpool fans will be quick to remind them of when Everton last won a trophy or of what a European Cup looks like!
In this tour, you will have a huge insight and dive deep into the rivalry and football culture in Liverpool. First, I will take you to the main entrance at Anfield to snap some photos on the famous gate “You Will Never Walk Alone”.
Then, we will check the Shankly Statue (behind the club shop) and from there, we walk along Anfield Road and pass by all the famous points and murals. Check out Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold mural on the side of a building in Sybil Road. A gigantic photo with the quote “I’m just a normal lad from Liverpool whose dream has just come true”. After that, you will have the most amazing guided tour through behind the scenes, such as dressing rooms, press conference and of course, entering the pitch! In the end, take some time to buy some souvenirs at the club’s shop.
To finish the day, I will take you to his favourite bar, The Sandon at Anfield Road, for some beers after this amazing day. Don’t forget, the first round is on me!
