Hi, I’m Alfonso, born and raised in Madrid!
Since I was a child I have been in love with all kind of sports. There is no doubt that Madrid is one of the football capitals of Europe, which made easier to develop a strong passion for it.
However, football in Madrid goes beyond Real and Atlético. In Madrid, depending on the year there are between 15 and 20 professional and semiprofessional teams. Lately, there is a revolution team which is surprising everybody with such amazing numbers and achievements. They are getting used to playing in Uefa Europa League and have reached twice the final of the Spanish King’s Cup. I am refering to Getafe CF.
In this experience, we will meet at Plaza de Carlos V/Atocha square in Madrid. Once there, we will buy our “Bocadillo de Calamares” at “El Brillante” (Our version of fast-food: Calamari Sandwich with garlic or brava sauce from one of the most historical bars in town). Only whenever the match coincides with a meal.
After that, we will get on in my private car in order to go to Getafe (20 minutes ride). Once there I will show you some relevant places for the history of Getafe FC and I will invite you to have either a caña, sangria, tinto de verano (typical drinks we have before football games) or any soft drink at a traditional “Peña” (Bar of a Getafe supporters club). Finally, we will enjoy an exciting game at ” El Coliseum Alfonso Pérez”.
When the game finishes I will take you and drop you off at the same spot. Atocha/Plaza de Carlos V. The timings will depend on the match-start!
