You won’t believe how vibrant Madrid can become on matchdays. The city has a long football history, which spans 100 years and is largely the history of its clubs: Real Madrid, Atlético de Madrid, and Rayo Vallecano.
Going across the city in a slanting line from north to south, you’re bound to encounter Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabéu stadium, at the heart of the Chamartín district, Atlético de Madrid’s Wanda Metropolitano stadium in the district of San Blas-Canillejas, and Vallecas stadium, a smaller field named after the working class district it stands on.
In an era where rich owners and multi-millionaire stars have often become the identity of the club, the sight of Atlético de Madrid reaching new heights is refreshing and priceless. The Los Rojiblancos have been a hub of great attacking talents with the likes of Sergio Agüero, Radamel Falcao, Diego Forlán, Fernando Torres and Antoine Griezmann making a name for themselves at Spain’s capital in the recent past .

You can expect chill vibes, new friends and great times. We run each trip as if we were traveling with our own group – because, by the end of it, we are.
We offer you the opportunity to take a trip where you can learn these principles, know the tales and anecdotes that surround the greats of this team, visit the stadium where they perform the games that make history -everything while you know and enjoy the entertainment of the European gate capital.
Day 1 – Madrid
Welcome to Madrid. Today, we will meet you at your accommodation for the weekend with our trip manager. Now it is time either to rest or drop your bags and relax after your journey. The Hotel Ganivet is located at the heart of Madrid, near La Latina area so you don’t have to worry for anything regarding plans or connections – we’ve got it sorted!
On Saturday afternoon, we’ll start this weekend with a private stadium tour at Wanda Metropolitano where we will be hosted by Atletico Madrid to get an exclusive look behind the scenes in their new stadium. After spending more than 50 years on the legendary Vicente Calderon, Atlético de Madrid football club moved to the new Wanda Metropolitano on September 16th, 2017.
After the stadium tour, we’ll head into the city center to enjoy some traditional Spanish tapas and beers around Puerta del Sol. Then we can head to Plaza de Santa Ana, the bustling heart of Madrid, and have some nice beers and nibbles at Lateral. Later on, we can kick-start the night getting some drinks at Radio, the rooftop that oversees the city at the exclusive Melia Hotel. Prefer to explore the city center? You are free to plan your own night out in Madrid.
Day 2 – Match Day
Matchday! Today is the day, one of the biggest derbies in Spanish football. We’ll experience the match between Atletico Madrid v Real Madrid in the brand new Wanda Metropolitano. The day will start with an early breakfast before we head into the city centre to hang out with locals and enjoy some beers.
In the afternoon, we’ll get some tapas in La Latina to prepare ourselves for the big match in the evening. We will go to the famous Cava Baja and grab some tapas and drinks. We must have a pit stop at El Viajero, the trendiest bar of the area, but might also try the internationally famous Huevos de Lucio.
Then, we will head towards the Wanda and hop off at the Metro Las Musas to hang out with fellow Atlético fans at some local bars and get the best pre-match atmosphere. Don’t forget to buy your bocata at the bar and take it with you to the ground. We’ll soak up in the atmosphere before the match for one of the biggest matches of the season between Atletico Madrid v Real Madrid. You shouldn’t miss on the food trucks and the mighty pot of beer (The mighty Mini – 2 pints) to have a refreshing drink before the game.
The atmosphere in the new stadium is just as amazing, as Los Colchoneros’ fans are known as some of the most fervent supporters in Spain. And now enjoy the fiercest Derby in the Iberian Peninsula. After the match, you can relax or go explore the famous nightlife in Madrid with us. One thing is for sure, it’ll be an incredible day.
