What better way to see the Eternal City than a visit to the Derby Della Capitale?
Rome has inspired and intrigued visitors for millennia. With breathtaking buildings and iconic sights around every corner. For over 2000 years, this city has seen epic fights and struggles for power. And although the fighting days of the gladiators at the Colosseum are gone – The Derby Della Capitale provides a spectacle worthy of this epic city.
The derby between Roma and Lazio is the fiercest rivalry in Italy. In fact, it’s probably the most notorious in Europe’s top five leagues. The rivalry goes back to 1927, when three clubs joined forces to form AS Roma. When Lazio refused to join the city alliance, an eternal rivalry was born. And these two teams have been fighting it out ever since. This is only intensified by the fact these two clubs share a stadium.
And on derby day, the Stadio Olimpico descends into mayhem as the two curvas hurl everything at each other. With a ridiculous amount of flags and tifo – and the ever-present threat of things spilling over.
