Overview

COVID-19 Travel Requirements

Travel looks a bit different at the moment, given the advice is ever-changing and will vary depending on where you live Homefans is not publishing specific information however we are linking here to the Danish Government where you will find the latest advice.

Join us in Copenhagen for one of Europe’s most underrated and explosive city derbies.

Copenhagen is famous for being the capital of Scandi cool and for it’s calm, relaxed lifestyle. But when it comes to football – any sense of calm goes straight out the window.

Denmark’s capital is a prime example of Scandinavia’s thriving football scene. A real hidden gem where you’ll find English-style stadiums packed with ultras and some of the best tifo displays on earth.

If you want to see Danish football culture at its best, you can’t beat a visit to Brøndby IF v Copenhagen. These two clubs have enjoyed a great deal of success. But titles and medals don’t matter half as much as the intense daily rivalry between their fans. This often spills over into violence – and results in colourful derby days where the fight for supremacy in the stands is just as important as the result.

Your trip to Copenhagen’s city derby will be led by a Copenhagen local and football fan.  They will help you experience Copenhagen like a local.  Plus you will share this experience with a small group of like-minded football fans.

On derby day itself, you’ll enjoy a fully local experience, with visits to the best fan’s bars and lunch at the Brondby supporters club. All before taking to the terraces and watching Copenhagen’s two biggest ultra groups go at it in stunning style.

We think you’ll agree – this isn’t your average weekend in the capital of cool. But your 3 day trip which includes accommodation and match tickets will certainly be memorable!

Book with total flexibility and security.

Homefans and their local hosts are now taking 2021/22 bookings for the Copenhagen Derby – for the following dates:

Sunday 24 October.  Brøndby v Copenhagen.  First day of the tour is Saturday 23 October.

You can secure your place with a 30% deposit and should circumstances change this becomes credit for any future trip. For more information about our flexible policies scroll down to read our FAQs or visit our Book with Confidence page.

Note:  it is possible that the match will move to Saturday – therefore we suggest you book a flight which arrives as early as possible on Saturday.  If no suitable flights are available, or in order to make the experience more relaxed you can also book an additional night – contact us for prices.

Day 1 - Welcome to Copenhagen
Day 1 - Welcome to Copenhagen

Today is gathering day, with the majority of the group arriving in the morning. Once you've checked-in into the hotel, you'll have a bit of time to relax after the journey.

In the afternoon, you'll meet up with Nicolai, your host for the weekend. You'll head to the Brøndby stadion, where you'll enjoy a private stadium tour!

After the tour, let's get back to Copenhagen and take some time to wander around Denmark's beautiful capital city. Our host can help you with some excellent tips for sightseeing, and will also reserve a table in a local restaurant for our first group dinner!

Day 2 - Match Day
Day 2 - Match Day

Four times a year, Copenhagen prepares itself for the biggest derby in Denmark: Brøndby IF v Copenhagen. And your whole day will be dedicated to this electric derby.

To start, we'll have a good breakfast in the hotel. After that, we will start our journey with Nicolai telling us the best stories about the derby and his club, Brøndby.

After that, you'll walk with Nicolai to some Brøndby bars and experience pre-match like a local. We will party, drink and eat with them during the whole afternoon and get to know the history of this derby through local eyes.

In Copenhagen, they are pretty chilled about drinking in the streets. So we will grab our beers and walk to the stadium in the most “relaxed” way. We say chilled because of the drinking part, but the atmosphere will be anything but chilled!

Then you'll experience everything you've heard about this match for yourself. The great atmosphere, the tifos, the smokebombs, and everything in between. It's unbelievable!

After the game, the party continues as fans celebrate a victory (or not) with more flares, singing and pyros.

After that, we recommend going have some drinks in the Freetown Christiania, a self-proclaimed anarchist district and one of the best places to reflect on a crazy day the Copenhagen derby!

Day 3 - Time to Say Goodbye
Day 3 - Time to Say Goodbye

On the final day of your football adventure, we recommend you see the other side of Copenhagen's football culture with a visit to Telia Park, the ground of F.C. Copenhagen.

After that, it might be time for you to catch your plane home. But if you're staying a little longer, you can take the brilliant Copenhagen Beer Walk Tour, where you can try different Danish craft beers in tons of bars around the city. It's amazing!

All in all - a truly fantastic trip. Let's do it again soon!

FAQs

Will the stadiums be open in 2021/22? At what capacity?

Homefans believe that stadiums will be open to fans, however we cannot at this stage confirm what the capacity will be.  However our flexible booking policies mean that if the stadium will only accept 50% fans and you decide you only want to travel with 100% attendance you can swap to another venue or another date.

Will I need to prove I am vaccinated? Or show a negative test?

This will vary destination to destination and based on your nationality and age. Therefore Homefans are not able to advise on this.  Please check the foreign ministry of your destination and home country and the stadium requirements.  Again, if you find the requirements too much you can defer to later in the season/year when they relax further.

COVID-19 hasn’t gone away- should I still book?

We believe so, we all need something to look forward to.  But we understand that people may be apprehensive which is why we have created a flexible cancellation policy which means in the event that the event does not happen the amount paid simply becomes Homefans credit.

You can transfer this to a later date (with no time limit), transfer to another tour, or even give it to a friend. This flexibility also applies if you decide to cancel for any reason (as long as you give us 45 days notice)

Do I have to pay the full amount when I book?

No, you can secure your place with a deposit of just 30%, then pay the balance at least 4 weeks before your trip date depending on your destination.

Where in the stadiums will we be sitting?

If we know where you will be sitting we always mention this is in the inclusions section.

Unfortunately we are not always able to tell you that at the time of booking, however our destination managers work tirelessly to make sure you get the best seats. We always aim for the long side of the home supporters section.

How many people will be on the tour?

The maximum number of people the host will allow is stated above. However this number may not always be met and it may even be possible that your party is on the tour on your own. Higher numbers make for a more sociable experience, lower numbers make for more personalised attention from your host. Look at it as a win/win!

Can children / young adults join the tour?

If we can accept children there will be an option in the booking flow. However for many trips our local hosts take the decision, based on the content of the tour, to open this up to adults only. If you are looking to travel with under 18’s, please feel free to contact us and we can discuss your options.

Can you cater to dietary needs or requirements?

Our local hosts will do everything they can to cater to travellers’ needs. It’s a good idea to share your requirements at the time of booking so that our host is able to make the required preparations

Will I have to share a room?

In order to keep the costs low we always offer prices based on 2 sharing. If you make a booking for an odd number of people you or another member of your party may be paired with another traveller of the same sex. If you wish you may pay a supplement for a guaranteed single room. Simply make your booking as normal and get in touch with us to arrange this.
