A group of young lads were practising football in Almagro’s quarter from Buenos Aires at the beginning of the last century. The priest Lorenzo Massa understood football as the best way to keep the young boys out of the streets, so it was in 1908 when the Club Atlético San Lorenzo de Almagro was founded, paying tribute to their original borough and the brilliant purpose of Lorenzo Massa. The fans are called ‘cuervos’ that means ‘raven’ due to the black dress of priests.
Considered one of the five ‘Big Teams’ from Argentina, San Lorenzo has a colossal tradition in South America, winning the desired Copa Libertadores back in 2014. But this is not the most critical fact in San Lorenzo’s history. ‘El Ciclón’ (Cyclone) is well known due to its struggle to get back to their former and real neighbourhood, Boedo.
