Hello Homefans community! I am Luciana, from La Boca, Argentina and i want to invite you to visit my loved neighbourhood .

I will take you around the mythical Bombonera and its surroundings, cruising through La Boca neighbourhood where murals and urban interventions from renowned Argentinian artists pay homage to the club and the greatest player that ever surfaced the earth: Diego Armando Maradona. In La Boca, little shop owners, supporters, and even strangers have transformed the neighborhood into a sanctuary that pays tribute to the most famous player and supporter of Boca Juniors.

We will start our journey at Irala y Pinzón, where we can find a very known mural “La 12 le agradece” (La 12 thanks you), drawn by the Pinta Boca group. This mural describes the very last moment when the Boca hinchada made a standing ovation to Maradona when visited La Bombonera as a Gimnasia y Esgrima de la Plata coach.

We will continue then to the stadium to witness Maradona’s memorial. Thousands of supporters and admirers left their messages, candles, pictures around El Diego’s figure, creating a holy sanctuary of football. Along Brandsen street, we will come across three more murals: Diego with phrases in Italian representing his stint at Napoli, Diego as a Boca player and lastly as an Argentinian team member.

Then I will show you a sculpture in bronze, depicting the most representative players of the history of Boca Juniors, with Diego Maradona standing on top of everyone else. Strolling along the Aristóbulo del Valle street we will see a lot of the new murals and sculptures done after his death – one the particularly stands out is the “Diego vive” (Diego lives) mural. I will also show you pictures, posters, signs, and other memorabilia of Diego on the street, as well as tributes created by neighbours and shop/restaurant owners.

Time to enter the museum, the tour is about 1 hour, and we will see all the history of boca and you will take pictures with th best trophies.

We will finish the Boca episode at the biggest mural, which is still an ongoing project. It’s been commissioned to Alfredo Segatori, a well-renowned muralist, who started it on the same day that Diego passed away. It’s a 40 x 18 meters mural and its name is “Saint Diego of La Boca, Patron of the Artists, Athletes and Humble People”. Hope you enjoy it!

Finally, we will walk through the famous tourist neighbourhood of San Telmo.
