Argentinos Juniors have long been renowned in Argentina as the cradle of the stars, a place where several greats have been nurtured and gone on to legend. Some of Argentina’s best ever football players have come through the academy of Los Bichos Colorados, inclusive of Juan Román Riquelme, Claudio Borghi, Sergio Batista, Fernando Redondo and Esteban Cambiasso.
But there is another name that sits above all of those in the pantheon of Argentine greatness: Diego Armando Maradona. The stadium is named Estadio Diego Armando Maradona, with a plaque at the main entrance reading: “The best player of all time made his career debut in this stadium on October 20, 1976.”

Hi! My name is Tomás Gonzalez and I’m a local host in Buenos Aires on Homefans. I work at Argentinos Juniors, Diego Maradona’s first-ever club. I’ve been working continuously in the stadium’s museum El Templo del Fútbol since December 2015. As any other supporter of Argentinos Juniors, I’m very proud of the history and the legacy of our institution, which is the cradle of the future Argentinian football stars.
I’m also a historian who specializes in football and contemporary history and I love sharing years of knowledge acquired (from both the terraces and the books and magazines) with travellers.
I’ve been a host on Homefans for a while and I’m excited to offer this unique matchday experience only through this platform. During this special matchday experience, you’ll get to know one of the most historic grounds in Argentinian football.
Unlike any other football experience in Buenos Aires, I can offer you the real deal-first hand experience, going behind the scenes and discovering everything we can visit (from the museum to the VIP terrace).
It also includes the story of the working-class neighborhood and its diverse community, the relationship between the club and its people – and the match itself, of course! Come and join me for one of the home matches of Argentinos Juniors!
Argentina’s stadiums will return to 100% capacity in November 2021. We cannot guarantee that restrictions will not return but we will keep all customers up to date on any developments.
Argentina is in the process of reopening and a range of trials are underway, all of which involve checking customers vaccination status. We have linked to these requirements above. While the restrictions may ease we advise all customers looking to travel to Argentina to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
The maximum number of people the host will allow is stated above. However this number may not always be met and it may even be possible that your party is on the tour on your own. Higher numbers make for a more sociable experience, lower numbers make for more personalised attention from your host. Look at it as a win/win!
Your deposit can be transferred to a later date (with no time limit), transferred to another tour, or even given to a friend. This flexibility also applies if you decide to cancel for any reason (as long as you give us 45 days notice)
No, you can secure your place with a deposit of just 30%, then pay the balance at least 4 weeks before your trip date
The included matches are final in order to keep the group together. However where the itinerary has spare time and there are matches that could be added on we will be only too happy to help you with tickets.
If we know where you will be sitting we always mention this is in the inclusions section.
Unfortunately we are not always able to tell you that at the time of booking, however our destination managers work tirelessly to make sure you get the best seats. We always aim for the long side of the home supporters section.
Our local hosts will do everything they can to cater to travellers’ needs. It’s a good idea to share your requirements at the time of booking so that our host is able to make the required preparations
In order to keep the costs low we always offer prices based on 2 sharing. If you make a booking for an odd number of people you or another member of your party may be paired with another traveller of the same sex. If you wish you may pay a supplement for a guaranteed single room (this is available under extras in the booking flow).
