THESE 4 HOMEFANS TRAVELERS ARE OUR ABSOLUTE HEROES OF 2017
Traveling gives us the opportunity to meet new people and to push through all kinds of barriers. We test ourselves, we confront our fears and we challenge our boundaries but most of all we travel to watch the beautiful game around the world.
It’s been a great year for Homefans and that’s also because of the people who joined us. And none more so than these 4 people – our MVP’s of 2017. Who are they and why are they so legendary? Read on to find out…
Ronald Klein Mentink
We met Ronald for the first time in March in Glasgow when he traveled alone to watch the Old Firm. Ronald reached out to us on Facebook if he could join the group for a few beers and we shared our ideas and ethos of Homefans with him. Since this moment, Ronald basically joins every big trip with Homefans. Stockholm, Belgrade, Argentina, Krakow, London, we don’t know where he gets the money from, but he is always there.
We shared some funny moments with Ronald during some of our trips. Ronald never fails to make some jokes or do crazy things. We do appreciate his loyalty towards Homefans and he is truly determined to live his life to the fullest by ticking off all the football destinations on his list.
Sebastiaan van Vriesland
Sebastiaan is one of our regular travelers who has been on three trips already and planned more trips throughout the season. Sebastiaan is a true brand ambassador of Homefans and probably gets his friends crazy for every big trip he wants to join.
Sebastiaan is a true groundhopper and loves to explore different football cultures around the world. He has done a tremendous job with spreading the word about Homefans and is one of the key members of our community.
Kevin van de Zweerde
Kevin is from Enschede and has joined us on 3 trips this season to Old Firm, Millwall, and Belgrade. It’s hard to pick the right story about Kevin. Some people might have seen him on one of our trips but you probably saw him on most of our group photos so far. Kevin is a true legend, never refuses a beer and even gets up in the morning with a beer. He is probably now drinking beer while reading this story.
All jokes aside, Kevin loves experiencing football around the world. The more intense the destination or match, the more he loves it. He pushes boundaries and wants to experience the craziest derbies around the world. In his free time (when he is not traveling) he is actually a football coach and recently accepted an offer from Astana to develop a coaching system. Trip to Astana in 2018, anyone?

Our first small group trip to Belgrade of the season was in August. Guido sent Homefans an email with the question if he could join our group trip to Belgrade. It was his first time with Homefans and he never used a travel company before, but most importantly he traveled solo. Our trip to Belgrade proved that you don’t need your friends all the time to travel and experience football. As long as you are accompanied by like-minded people, you can still have an amazing football experience.
Guido tried to compete with Ivan to drink glasses of Rakija and soon he found out it was impossible to win. It’s been an absolute pleasure to meet Guido and for us, he is also one of the MVP’s of the year.
